New Coagulation Testing Procedure
In Baptist Health System’s ongoing effort to improve quality and safety, we are taking measures to centralize our specialized coagulation testing. All Baptist Health System “PT/PTT Mixing Studies” will be performed at Baptist Medical Center. Testing will be performed once daily at 9 a.m. with a 3 hour assay time. This change is effective February 1, 2012.
PT/PTT Mixing Studies are tests performed on plasma to distinguish clotting factor deficiencies from clotting inhibitors, such as lupus anticoagulant, or specific factor inhibitors, such as antibodies directed against factor 8.
