Please note that this calculation is based on the Framingham Equation (adapted from Stroke 2006), but it is an estimate only - please see your doctor for an accurate diagnosis as there may be other contributing risk factors. The Framingham Equation covers an age range of 54-85 for males, and 54-84 for females - that is why our calculator only accepts these ranges.

Here’s how it works:

Face
Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

Arms
Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

Speech
Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Are the words slurred? Can the patient repeat the sentence correctly?

Time
Get the affected person to a hospital right away to receive the most effective treatment.
