Stroke Care offered by Baptist Health System in San Antonio

What’s your risk for stroke?

Welcome to Baptist Health System’s Brain & Stroke Network stroke risk calculator. Try this quick stroke risk calculator and find out if you are at risk for stroke within the next 10 years. The data you enter in the calculator will not be stored in any way or form on our system after processing.

Please note that this calculation is based on the Framingham Equation (adapted from Stroke 2006), but it is an estimate only - please see your doctor for an accurate diagnosis as there may be other contributing risk factors. The Framingham Equation covers an age range of 54-85 for males, and 54-84 for females - that is why our calculator only accepts these ranges.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. With Stroke – Time is Brain. For every minute that brain cells are deprived of oxygen during stroke, the likelihood of brain damage increases. Act FAST stands for face, arms, speech and time.

Here’s how it works:

Face
Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?

Arms
Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

Speech
Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Are the words slurred? Can the patient repeat the sentence correctly?

Time
Get the affected person to a hospital right away to receive the most effective treatment.

* If a person is having trouble with these basic commands, call 911 immediately.
